Hello there, I'm Stacey Elaine.

I grew up on a dirt road in New Hampshire, with five acres of woods to explore and dream in. We had a menagerie of pets to adore and bond with; from our quarter horses to our rabbits, to our clown-like boxer dogs, to my Lovebird named Winston, there was never a dull (or quiet) moment. My mother tended lovingly to her lily gardens which framed our back yard with pops of yellow, peach and aubergine. I loved nature and drawing animals from a young age, and was encouraged by both of my parents to follow my artistic callings.

I come from a long line of creative thinkers: my grandfather and great grandfather were engravers who created masterful pen and ink illustrations of birds, horses, and other animals, my father was an inventive design engineer who could design and build anything, including the barn our horses lived in, and my older sister is also a talented artist.

After studying art throughout high school, and putting on my first art show, I went on to choose a focus of creative writing at Eckerd College, located on the Gulf of Mexico in St. Petersburg, Florida.

I took a few art courses here and there, but continued to pursue a writing degree during my four years there. Florida and its magnificent flora and fauna still hold a special place in my heart.

After graduating, I worked for a short time in the publishing industry in NYC, but it left me completely stifled creatively. It wasn’t until I became a mother that art starting calling to me again, and I was more than ready to revisit that important part of myself. Now I live in Connecticut with my husband, Doug, and two young sons, Boden and Cody. I’ve made nearly all of my pieces during my kids' naps!

Being a mom has brought me so much joy and purpose, but I felt a creative void in my life after years of putting my passions on the back burner. The idea to work with tissue paper came to me as I was falling asleep one night, and since I started working with this medium it has felt more natural and effortless than anything else I’ve ever made.

I’m fortunate to be able to do what I love and share it with the world. Thank you to my husband, Doug, and to my friends and family for your support and encouragement and thank YOU for taking a moment to get to know a little about me.
